Work/Place is an initiative by Lane and From Later that aims to explore the future of work and how it will be shaped by changing competitive geographies, emerging technological and economic opportunities, climate and resource realities, and remote work.
Work/Place is an initiative focused on exploring the future of where and how we work. Rather than simply reporting on job loss and reskilling statistics, the initiative aims to imagine the future of work, considering changing competitive geographies, climate and resource realities, and emerging technological and economic opportunities. Work/Place is interested in exploring new ways of organizing work to meet remote collaboration needs, and in considering what it will feel like to collaborate in immersive virtual environments. The initiative also considers how machine learning could augment our creative faculties, and what new kinds of labour roles will emerge as we transition to a climate-resilient and low-carbon economy.
The initiative is led by the founders of Lane, a platform for the workplace, and is in collaboration with Toronto-based foresight studio, From Later. From Later is an interdisciplinary foresight studio that monitors and makes sense of change, developing clear-sighted and judicious future perspectives. Work/Place is a podcast and research report by Clinton Robinson and Kofi Gyekye, in which they discuss the future of work with experts in the field. Overall, Work/Place is a space for creative and critical thinking about the future of work and place, in which new ideas and possibilities are explored.
